Are you eligible for a FREE Shingles Vaccination?

We now have updated information on the forthcoming shingles vaccination eligibility criteria for 2017;

Patients aged between 70 and 73 years on/before 31st August 2017 will be offered a shingles vaccination.

(Date of birth between 31/08/1942 to 31/08/1946)

Patients aged 78 years on/before 31st August 2017 will still be offered the shingles vaccination.

(Date of birth between 31/08/1937 until they become 80)

In addition, patients who were eligible for the immunisation in the first three years of the programme but did not get vaccinated against shingles will remain eligible until their 80th birthday.

Any patient who reaches their 80th birthday is no longer eligible for the vaccination due to the reducing efficiency of the vaccine as age increases. This is recommended by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation for the shingles immunisation programme.
